THS HOSTS POWERLIFTING EVENT; DUCKS SOAR |
|
 The annual powerlifting competition was held this past Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Taylor Middle School gymnasium. Participants came from area schools including Harker Heights, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Granger, A & M Consolidated, Killeen, Thrall, Austin Bowie, Bastrop, Elgin, Gatesville and Dripping Springs. Kelbie Stifflemire (left) won 1st place in his class.

THS TO DEFEND STATE ACDEC CROWN |
 THS Academic Decathlon Advisor Vicki Rowe has confirmed that her young group of "scholars" was named Regional Champions in the Small School Division last weekend at San Antonio's Sandra Day O'Connor High School and will be defending their current State title later this month. |

DUCKS REALIGNED IN UIL SYSTEM |
|
 The UIL held its biennial lottery and reclassifaction this morning and as usual, they continued their historic grip on the powerball. The Taylor Ducks are now members of Region IV and District 25-AAA. It's a six-team district that includes: Taylor, Burnet, Lampasas, Liberty Hill, Llano, and Salado.

DUCKS TENNIS SHINES AT ELLISON TOURNEY |

THS Tennis Coach Vicki Hall was very pleased with her young squad's efforts at Killeen Ellison last Friday as they "totally dominated the tournament." In Boy's Singles, sophomore Hayden Wilkins won 1st place and teammate Drew Weise finished 2nd. In Girl's Singles, senior Leah Morales grabbed 2nd place honors, while teammates Isabel Yanez finished 7th overall and freshman MorganCmerek was a Consolation finalist. In Mixed Doubles, Brad Ging-Maisen Lawhon won 1st place over teammates Dylan Weise-Kayla Beran 2nd. In Girl's Doubles, Kristen Cuba-Coty Golawon 3rd place and Kayleee Nemec-Kasi Lazano advanced to Consolation finals. In Boy's Doubles, Braden Gross-Jeff Carpenter took 3rd place and Andrew Makare-Ian Rucker advanced to the Consolation finals. According to Hall, the Ducks showed a lot of heart in a 14-team tourney that paired them against 4A and 5A competition. GO DUCK TENNIS!! |

THS SWIMMERS COMPETE AT DISTRICT |
THS Swim Coach Gloria Schuldt has reported that the THS varsity swim Team competed at the District 25-4A championships this past Friday with excellent results.
The girl's team (Shayla Harvey & Taylor Robichaux), had best times in all of their events, finishing their season on a high note.
The boy's team (Seth Harvey, Corey Terwillger, Charles Kemp, Noah Kopit and Cody Hall) finshed 5th in both their relays, qualifying for the Regional Meet scheduled for San Antonio February 12-13. "They had some great individual times, with several best times of the year," said Schuldt.
Gloria Schuldt was named District 25 Boy's coach of the year.

The registration packet may be picked up Monday-Friday from 8 am - 4 pm at the THS Counseling Center. The registration forms need to be completed and returned in the pre-addressed envelope. MARK JACKSON RANKED #2 IN THE NATION |

Taylor Track & Field coach Mike Tennill has reported that senior Mark Jackson has gotten off to a spectacular start to the upcoming track season. Splitting his time between basketball and track, Jackson travelled to the Carl Lewis Invitational Track Meet at the University of Houston on Saturday to compete indoors as he took 1st place in the high school Triple Jump with a best effort of 48'-7 1/4". Tennill further reports that according to Dye Stat, a national track website, that jump ranks Mark 2nd in the nation. |
