GARDNER, BAKER EARN MIGRANT AWARDS

Taylor ISD’s Migrant Program received recognition from The University of Texas at Austin Migrant Student Graduation Enhancement Program last weekend.

Gaining recognition and earning the University of Texas Migrant Award were Taylor ISD's Teresa Gardner (above left) and Sonia Baker (above right).

The two Taylor staffers were honored during the 2009 Texas Migrant Education Conference in Corpus Christi as the result of achieving a 100 percent completion rate in credit by examination.  Congratulations to both ladies!

DUCKS BB BOYS ROLL OVER LLANO; 48-42

Taylor Boys BB Coach Justin Boswell reports that the boys basketball had a successful road trip Tuesday as they rolled to a fast start and withstood a late rally to earn a 48-42 win over the Llano Yellowjackets.

The Ducks jumped out to a 26-15 edge at halftime and then scored 13 points in the final period to turn back the Yellowjackets and take a 1-0 start to their new season. Taylor will return to homecourt action on Saturday with they host the Burnet Bulldogs.

The Burnet tip-off is expected about 4:30 p.m., following the freshman and JV games.  According to Boswell, the Taylor freshmen jumped on top of Llano and never looked back, histling to a 46-27 victory.  The Ducks JV could not hold its lead in a back & forth 2nd half and lost, 42-40.

LADY DUCKS BB FALL TO NORTH ZULCH

Taylor Head Coach Kisha Risper-Jones and her young Lady Ducks basketball team slipped a notch Tuesday as they traveled to North Zulch and were handed their first loss of the season by the Lady Bulldogs.

The loss dropped Taylor to 2-1 on the year.  They return home Friday, November 20th for three games vs Troy.  Game times are 5:15 (freshman), 6:45 (JV) and 8:00 p.m. (varsity).

THS BAND EARNS "SUPERIOR" MARKS AT UIL REGIONALS

     THS Band Director Jacques Brown took his award winning marching band to the Regions 18/26 UIL Marching Contest in Georgetown Saturday, where they earned their 5th straight Division I Superior rating in this year's most prestigious marching contest.

     "I was very pleased with the band's effort and we certainly want to congratulate each of the band members for their hard work and dedication," said Brown.  "We would also like to thank the staff for their help."
